Synopsis

A pretty red rose and a bunny’s pink nose. A spinning top and a dripping mop. An inquisitive young boy discovers that there are many wonderful things—some familiar, some surprising—to see at his house. He discovers, too, that seeing means opening your eyes to the world around you. Holly Keller’s simple rhyming text and bold illustrations turn everyday visions into heartwarming reveries.

Children's Literature

In this Level 1 book, Holly Keller allows her readers to learn new vocabulary (the names of objects) while reinforcing the use of some short words; each sentence begins with "I see a." While children can use rhyming words as cues, they can make their own observations since Keller adds a picture from each pair of words to the following page, which encourages left-to-right progression and allows room for discussion. Kindergarten-to-first-grade readers should enjoy the challenge.
