Synopsis
Martin Warner sets out to explore the enterprise of being a Christian. He covers new ground but also digs around in daily life and common culture.
As a guide for this exploration Warner boldly uses the prayers said by the celebrant of the Eucharist while putting on the priestly vestments. These prayers focus attention on aspects of life that are common to us all: hands, mind, fashion, commitment and celebration.
What we discover here is an extended mediation on faith in Jesus Christ. It is a passionate account that directs our attention unflinchingly to the reality of life, without losing sight of heaven as our destiny.
The universal aspect of the vesting prayers is applied throughout this account-for finally we are all to be clothed by God with the glory of the resurrection.
