Synopsis
WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH MIM is a believable story of a twelve year old girl who is being molested by her mother's boyfriend. Reference to child abuse is obvious but subtle. Mim finds role models in her teacher, the school councilor, and best friend, Annie. Also important to Mim's life is the Patterns for Living Show on Station KVOX. Mim finds pleasure in her hobby: looking up words in the Webster's New International Dictionary Second Edition Unabridged 3194 pages, left behind when her father abandoned the family. Words and their meaning give Mim comfort and understanding. The relationships between younger brother, Ray and special needs sister, Rachel, are typical. The bond between mother and older daughter is classic.Book Details
