Overview

One Hundred years after it was founded, the Labour Party in the UK, and the Labour Movement, have a record of failure behind it. This is a critique of the Labour Party from the left, drawing on academic analysis and practical experience. Leaders of the Labour Party neglected to bring about meaningful change excusing themselves with talk of a national interest. The author shows that in major cities it has failed to protect old industries and has not succeeded in developing new ones. The Party has not helped to clarify what workers interests might be. Instead it has thrown out commitments to common ownership.
