Overview

When the dead speak, does anybody hear? Sergeant Samantha Casey does. They tell her secrets about their life and death. But sometimes what she learns can get her killed. A body is found in a cement pillar. The deceased is a U.S. soldier reported AWOL during the Korean War. What secret did he carry to his grave and why is someone hell-bent on keeping that secret buried? When The Dead Speak combines police procedural with Native American mysticism in a novel about racism, conspiracy, political cover-up, and one woman's relentless pursuit of the truth.

Buzz Review News

X-Fileish without the alien tint, this novel slyly pulls you in and under, immersing you in an intricately woven plot.

Leslie Doran

Tooley's premiere novel is a good, engaging read. Her tale of murder and mystery teams with life amongst death and humor in dire straits, and she even manages to weave in a blossoming romance or two in the bargain. It looks like Tooley has a winner in her first novel and I look forward to her next.

...[R]ather like being a passenger on a fast moving freight train that never stops and is heedless of all crossing intersections. Scenes change rapidly and without warning before one has even has time to assimilate a new plot twist....a very complex plot, with an extremely large cast of characters....However, if you are a reader who likes fast moving books with a touch of both the supernatural and romance, this book is perfect for you.
