Acting on the assumption that there's always room for one more-a slogan credited to sardine packers-the Sterlings have put together what appears to be their sixth book of selections from Will Rogers's sayings. It's a ships-shoes-sealing wax affair in which everything is arranged alphabetically by topic-bankers, Democrats, fashions, Indians, taxes, etc. A brief biographical note introduces the quotes and the man. There isn't much, really, to say about Rogers's oeuvre at this late date. He belongs to the ages. His name stands impregnably for dry wit, homespun humor, and the power to see the world as a magnificent farce, without glamour and without bitterness. With all due respect for the labor of love performed by the Sterlings, it is doubtful that many libraries need this book.-A.J. Anderson, GSLIS, Simmons Coll., BostonBook Details
