Overview

Volume 5 of Checker's landmark collection of McCay's output other than Little Nemo in Slumeberland. Includes late 1908 strip work and editorial cartoons from the New York American.

Synopsis

"This is the fifth volume of the Checker Book Publishing's effort to reprint a comprehensive library of the lesser known works of Winsor McCay. This pioneer of illustration and animation had a massive body of work dating from the early 1900's to his death in 1934. Volume five contains "Dream of a Rarebit Fiend", assorted dream-themed strips created both before and after the Rarebit series, various New York editorial pieces that were drawn throughout his career, and some newspaper strips that were short-lived but by no means any less masterful than his longer-running series."--back cover.
