Children's Literature
The famous little rhyme for wishing on a star sets the stage for this little book. Its small format may make one think that it is a book for young children, but it is really more appropriate for those in their late teens or older. It would probably work well as a graduation or birthday gift. It wishes the readers happiness through friends, a room of their own, wings to fly, a great place to hang out, someone to hold onto, and so much more. The illustrations are full of humorthey use animals to convey the message such as a reindeer's antlers as a place to hang your hat, and a joey in a kangaroo pouch to enjoy a front row seat. The book is cute and cleversofter in tone than Boynton but still just as amusing, but maybe not laugh-out-loud funny like her books. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
