Overview

Wright Sites, a revised edition of a guidebook first published by The Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy, is a complete catalog of Wright's extant, visitable buildings in the United States, and also includes listings for sites in Asia and Europe. In addition to regional maps and suggested trip itineraries, the guide contains descriptions and visitation information for more than sixty projects. Although much of Wright's work is located in the Midwest, Wright enthusiasts across the country will be delighted to discover Wright buildings in New Hampshire, Texas, Alabama, Virginia, Florida, and Montana. Edited by Arlene Sanderson, a consultant to the Conservancy who holds masters in art history and journalism, Wright Sites also includes an introduction by architectural historian Jack Quinan, of SUNY Buffalo.

Library Journal

This is a current, geographically arranged list of 50 buildings or sites by Wright (1867-1959) open to the public. Each entry gives, as appropriate, street address, telephone, tour schedules and fees, and a very brief (50- to 200-word) statement about the listing. These statements vary in scope, intent, and quality. Save for Fallingwater, each entry is limited to a single page and a single photograph. Included are museums, private houses, public buildings, and churches as well as miscellaneous structures. There are no maps or driving instructions, which would have been helpful in some instances. Brief listings of archives and of collections and exhibits appear without explanation at the end. Useful, but very specialized; for the insatiable Wright audience.-- Jack Perry Brown, Art Inst. of Chicago Libs.
