Library Journal
Somewhat reminiscent of William Zinsser's Spiritual Quests ( LJ 11/1/88), this book presents well-known writers' views on religious faith. They are all British novelists, however, and the book itself is essentially a journalistic venture in which Hartill (a BBC reporter) interprets the writers' views for us rather than offering pieces they have written themselves. Hartill's subjects are less powerfully evoked than those in Zinsser's book. Still, these are important novelists--Iris Murdoch, Anthony Burgess, etc.--and some of the insights are very interesting.Book Details
