Overview

This anthology celebrates and explores the particular qualities of the writing of a nation. The stories evoke what is distinctive about Canadians and their relationship to their country; their attitude towards its vastness; their valuing of individuality; historical and current problems of identity; attitudes towards the nation's cultural mix; the country's increasing urbanisation; growing interest in women's rights; and attitudes towards the country's future. The stories will appeal across the ability range of 14–17 year old students, in class and with teacher support. They will produce an interesting and enlivening resource for enquiry and responsive discussion, and are particularly suitable for developing a multi-cultural perspective.
