Children's Literature
In this "Follow the Action" book, a farmer takes the reader on a journey through a year on a farm. Each season is represented through months. On the right of every page is a calendar page of the month of the year that the large picture on the page is depicting. Each page has the same view, so that the reader is able to compare each page and see the differences from month to month. The author shows all the activities that happen on a farm in the entire year. There are funny things that happen as well as normal activities to keep the farm running. On the left, each page shows objects that readers should seek and find in the farm spreads. The words that accompany each picture explain what the picture shows, as well as what to look for on the page. The words convey the most important elements of each scene. This educational masterpiece is great for children learning about crops during a farm unit. This would be an excellent addition to a lesson on the economy or a social studies curriculum.
