Drawn mostly from footnotes and bibliographies appearing in books and articles, this unannotated bibliography consists of 9,059 numbered entries from the social sciences, the humanities, and the natural sciences. It lists works from the 17th century to the present, although (due to publication deadlines) it is less comprehensive for works published during the 1990s (and, therefore, with regard to the welter of materials concerning the dissolution of Yugoslavia). Monographs, journal articles, chapters of books, published and unpublished theses and dissertations, papers and lectures written for professional meetings, and unpublished working papers and manuscripts, as well as documents, pamphlets, and a list of journals dealing primarily or totally with Yugoslav subjects, are included, but newspaper articles, in general, have been left out.
