Overview
A portrait of Zacarias Moussaoui, the purported "twentieth hijacker," now a federal detainee charged with multiple capital offenses. Written by his brother, this tale of domestic hardship, youthful hope, and a final, downward spiral casts the defendant in a new, human light.
Synopsis
Zacarias Moussaoui currently sits in an American jail accused of being the "20th hijacker" in the 9-11 hijackings. Combining a plea for understanding with a warning about the dangers of the Wahhabi sect of Islam, his brother here recounts his youth growing up with Zacarias. He recounts the hardships the French-Moroccan brothers underwent due to the combined weight of racism, classism, and an overbearing mother, suggesting that without those factors he wouldn't have witnessed his brother drift into the clutches of the Wahhabis, instead of the more traditional Sunni group to which he belongs.
