About the Author, Michael Brenner

Michael Brenner (University of Munich and visiting professor at Stanford University) is the author of numerous publications including The Renaissance of Jewish Culture in Weimar Germany and After the Holocaust: Rebuilding Jewish Lives in Postwar Germany.

Translator: Shelley Frisch is the author of “The Lure of the Linguistic” and translator of many books from the German, including biographies of Nietzsche, Kafka, and Einstein. She has taught German literature at Columbia University, Haverford College, and Rutgers University, and serves on the PEN Translation Committee.
