Overview
Since it rose to prominence 30 years ago, The World Trade Center has been photographed by millions. Yet no photographer shares Jay Maisel's passion. A professional photographer and lifetime New York resident with a view of the towers from his bedroom, Maisel has recorded the World Trade Center since the early days of its construction.
More than photographs of the landmark that was, A Tribute represents one man's love affair with this stunning signature of the New York skyline. Photographed in every season, at every hour of the day and night, in every conceivable light; viewed from the ground, other buildings, across rivers, and from the air, these images constitute the most intimate photographic portrait of the World Trade Center ever created.
Comprised of 98 full-color photographs in this exquisitely designed and printed album, A Tribute is a moving testament to the power these towers had over the imagination not only of New York, but that of the entire world.
In the wake of their destruction, this book is offered as a tribute to all those who share Maisel's love and amazement for these buildings. Let us remember the twin towers not as mountains of rubble or mass graves, but as symbols of strength, courage, and unity. Let this book be an eternal reminder of the beauty that was.
