Purpose: The purpose, as stated by the author, is to provide a visual introduction to the field of erectile dysfunction or to enhance accessibility to the subject as a whole.
Audience: This text appears to be best suited for medical students as well as physicians or other healthcare practitioners desiring a brief overview of the field. It might also be accessible to the sophisticated layperson desiring a greater understanding of the field. The author is a well recognized expert in the field of erectile dysfunction.
Features: This atlas provides a summary of erectile physiology, the path of physiology of erectile dysfunction, as well as the treatment options available for erectile dysfunction. The appendix provides a visual compliment to the text portion of the atlas, however its physical separation from the corresponding text does detract some from the utility of the illustrations. Despite this, the illustrations are of a high quality as are the photographs and radiographs.
Assessment: This atlas provides a brief overview of erectile function and erectile dysfunction suitable for persons desiring an introduction to the field. As a result its greatest use would be as a supplement to a more comprehensive textbook and an addition to a comprehensive library.
