Overview

Fourteen and fresh from the country, Polly Milton fails to blend in with her wealthy, sophisticated extended family, the Shaws. Years later, when she returns to the city to teach music, she finds life much changed for the Shaws. This later (1870) novel sounds the classic Alcott themes of honesty, loyalty, and family virtue.
