Purpose:The authors' stated purpose was to create a textbook that emphasized the clinical aspects of anesthetic practice with particular attention paid to the application of evidence-based medical decision-making to the field of anesthesia. This worthwhile objective is achieved.
Audience:Although written for students and practitioners in anesthesia, it is likely that students and residents will benefit the most from the book, as the chapters provide short, clear discussions of important topics in anesthesia. More experienced readers can quickly refresh their understanding of a given topic, but more esoteric issues might require a more detailed source.
Features:The book covers all areas of interest to students of anesthesia. The chapters are well written and cover the subject completely. A CD-ROM with the images from the book is included.
Assessment:This book covers more topics and provides greater detail than other introductory books. Additionally, the quality of the writing makes it easier to follow and understand than most other books.
