Library Journal

Anyplace is the fourth in a series of 11 volumes compiled annually by Anyone Corporation of New York concerning the condition and cultural problems of architecture at the end of the century. Nearly all of its content derives from a cross-cultural and multidisciplinary international conference held in Montreal in 1994. Thirty architects, philosophers, writers, and academicians weigh in in this provocative and vividly presented volume of 21 essays and eight visual portfolios. Its originality of design and presentation as much as its content will delight researchers. Often the bane of conference books, the discussion segments are thoughtfully and smoothly edited. Unfortunately, participant biographies are scattered throughout the text and are therefore difficult to ferret out. A tour de force about the current conundrums of architecture, this is highly recommended for academic and specialized libraries.-Russell T. Clement, Univ. of Tennessee Lib., Knoxville
