The treatments that relieve pain are briefly described and a caution is included about quackery. The appendices offer an extensive glossary and a list of arthritis organizations with addresses and phone numbers. Black-and-white photos emphasize the suffering and debilitating effects of arthritis, while diagrams and pictures supplement the lucid, terse text.
