Ann Welton, Grant Center for the Expressive Arts, Tacoma, WA - Criticas

Grade 2-3 Primary school science teachers could hardly do better than this informed translation. From egg to larva to butterfly to reproduction, the whole life cycle is covered in a beautiful pictorial form extended by lucid prose explanations. Heavy paper pages cut to different widths create an attractive system of clearly labeled tabs, running from "El huevo/The Egg" to "La vida adulta/Adult Life." The realistic, almost photographic, illustrations are arresting and informative, and the combined glossary and index are equally pictorial. A visual reproduction of the life cycle in circular form is a great addition. Simpler and more focused than the scattershot approach of the "Eyewitness" books, this title shares the same eye-catching appeal. An excellent introductory title for early exploration of the life sciences, this is suitable for classrooms, libraries, and bookstores.
