Overview

Analyzing which authors are cited, how often, and by whom, is used to map the internal structure and dynamics of a research tradition. Eom (management information systems, Southeast Missouri State U.) introduces an alternative approach to conducting such author co-citation analysis (ACA) without relying on commercial citation databases. He says his approach can access the non-primary authors of cited references, select citing articles according to strict criteria, and identify the intellectual structure of an academic field and its reference disciplines more accurately and effectively than earlier approaches. Novices SAS users and those not familiar with multivariate statistical techniques should be able to follow the argument. The text is double spaced Annotation Β©2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
