Synopsis

An appealing set of verses on half-size pages above a clock face with two movable hands is designed to teach toddlers how to tell time. The verses take them through the day, from 6 in the morning when it's time to wake up, until twelve o'clock midnight, when everyone is fast asleep. In between, children meet Farmer Fred, and the farm animals, as well as other friendly creatures who live nearby—a mouse, a porcupine, a pair of squirrels, and others. As preschool children follow the verses and look at the accompanying pictures, they can match the clock's hands with clocks in each charming full-color illustration. Before you know it, they'll understand how to tell the time of day!

Children's Literature

Another Barron's how-to book, this board book is designed for the child just learning to tell time. It includes a large clock face with moveable hands. As the rhyming text is read, the child can move the hands of the clock to the corresponding time. The clever story follows Farmer Fred and his barnyard friends through their busy day. A picture of a clock with the correct time is on each page to clue the beginning student as they manipulate the moveable hands. The whimsical cartoon illustrations add to the book's appeal.
