Library Journal

The latest opus from prolific star biographer Higham does not have any astounding revelations comparable to his (questionable) identification of Errol Flynn as a Nazi spy. Instead, with the aid of previously published accounts and interviews with some of Brando's coworkers and friends, Higham presents a balanced picture of a man with contradictory qualities. Brando, it seems, can be very charming when he wants towhich is rather seldom. More often he is a supremely selfish individual who happens to be a talented actor. Brando is less shrill than some of Higham's other books and is better for that. A serviceable addition for libraries seeking more on the subject. John Smothers, Mommouth Cty . Lib., Manalapan, N.J.
