ger for reading aloud. One of the new Live Music! series that also includes books on keyboards, percussion, strings, the voice, and woodwinds, this provides a lively, fact-filled, colorfully illustrated introduction to a group of musical instruments. Sharma gets across the thrill of making music, from the fanfare of the bugle to the trumpets and trombones of the symphony orchestra. She includes a brief history of brass instruments across cultures and also provides hands-on practical directions for making rough instruments (with a cardboard tube and a plastic bottle) and playing the simplest notes. The design is hectic, but there's a lot of exciting information crammed in on every page, with bright color photographs--of beginners and of great musicians--along with a glossary, a bibliography, and even a brief discography.
