Editorials
From The Critics
Reviewer: Long K. Han, MD(University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine)Description: This is a volume in the series Atlas of Anesthesia from Churchill Livingston. In accordance with this heritage, this textbook is filled with tables and color illustrations of key concepts.
Purpose: The editors of the series and of this book aim to provide an illustrated guide to cardiac and thoracic anesthesia for practitioners at all levels in this field.
Audience: The book seems perfectly suited to anesthesia trainees at the resident and fellowship levels. However, most cardiovascular and thoracic anesthesiologists will still find useful information in the illustrations.
Features: The chapters are organized into topics covering the perioperative care of the cardiovascular patient. Specific relevant topics such as coagulation and cardiopulmonary bypass are covered in separate chapters. All the chapters share a wealth of beautifully illustrated diagrams, tables, and pictures. These illustrations, in addition to the lucid and well-written text, are the main reason to purchase this book.
Assessment: I highly recommend it to all anesthesiologists.
