Gr 3-5-- A brief, serviceable manual of practical information. It includes advice on what tools to use (pencil, pen, marker, paints) and how to do simple animation, create a comic strip, and exaggerate expressions for caricature. However, the design and layout are visually jarring. Crowded images jump off the pages in a helter-skelter manner. Syd Hoff's The Art of Cartooning (Stravon, 1973), Lee Ames's ``Draw 50'' series (Doubleday), or Ed Emberley's drawing books (Little) are better choices. --Alexandra Marris, Rochester Public Library, NY
