Gr 3-5-Graves provides concise information about Malcolm X's family history and young adult years prior to his conversion to the Muslim faith. He discusses the man's disillusionment with the Nation of Islam, which ultimately led to his tragic death. Landau makes reference to the history of Africans in America and the struggles they endured before offering a lucid discussion of the civil rights movement. Both books have vivid photographic images coupled with clear, well-stated information. They include section headings but no tables of contents, so readers will find the indexes quite useful.
