This book offers information that can be rapidly assimilated and is much needed for this field. The author has met his objectives.
Audience:According to the author, the book is geared towards general practitioners, residents, medical students, and APRNs. The book is easy to digest and follow.
Features:The book covers the more common rheumatologic disorders such as crystalline arthropathies, rheumatoid arthritis, SLE, osteoarthritis, and also goes over psychosocial aspects, medications, and a brief overview of musculoskeletal examination. The information is presented clearly, includes key points, and is easy to follow. There are also useful mnemonics throughout the book. The author, however, could have focused more on radiologic techniques in musculoskeletal systems, examination, and provided more illustrations to complement the text.
Assessment:This is a helpful addition to the field. There is enough information to help residents and medical students through their rotations in rheumatology. It is also a useful tool to have in the primary care physician's office as a quick reference.
