Based on research conducted in Newfoundland, Canada, this study uses multiple regression analyses to determine how different combinations of resources impact on student outcomes in the realms of language achievement, mathematics achievement, and student well-being. Hurley (education, U. of Windsor, Canada) identifies five sets of resources (community level resources, school-level effects, student background factors, linguistic factors, and student attitudes) and unsurprisingly finds that the student's precocity in vocabulary and syntactic usage are strong predictors of language and mathematics outcomes. A quality of school life model is found to be a strong predictor for variance in well-being. Less prominent correlations are also discussed. Annotation c.
