Children's Literature - Mandy Cruz

Canada is the second largest country in the world. Canada has only one neighbor, the United States. Located to the north of the United States on the continent of North America, Canada has ten provinces and hundreds of lakes, with more freshwater than any other country. More than 33 million people live in Canada; most are multicultural and speak English or French, or both. Humans aren't the only inhabitants of Canada; there are many different animals including the beaver (the national animal), bears, wolves and even whales. From the culture of the people to their food this Spanish version of Spotlight on Canada touches on it all. An excellent introduction to geography, social studies, government and history, this book is an asset to every library. With words that are both easy for young readers to grasp and paragraphs short enough for readers to not feel over-informed the author does a wonderful job teaching us about our world. The beautiful color photographs invite you to learn more about Canadians, their native plants and animals while making you marvel at the breathtaking landscapes. Reviewer: Mandy Cruz
