Children's Literature
Olivia "Liv" Phillips is a long way from Ann Arbor, Michigan. She is spending her summer in London as an intern for Music Mix Europe. Even before landing at Heathrow she has already imagined a world full of rock stars and parties. Reality, however, proves to be a little different. One of her new roommates acts like a spoiled brat. Her boss is anything but charming. And on her first day in London, Liv manages to crash-land in front of Josh Cameron, International Pop Star. But life is not all bad for Liv. There is fun to be had in London with new friends and a possible relationship with Josh Cameron. Do not, however, let the summary on the back cover of Erin Downing's book fool you. Despite the summary and a possible misinterpretation of the title, this book has little, if anything, to do with dancing. "Dancing Queen" is a reference to the Abba song, which happens to be Liv's anthem of choice. As for Downing's first foray into writing, it is a work of cotton candy. Yet cotton candy is not without its merits. It can be a tasty treat of mindless fluff, or it could be the source of terrible indigestion and possible heartburn. It all depends on the palate of the individual reader.
