Overview

Dark Road to Daylight is a fast-paced mystery that follows former pastor and now counselor Burke Anderson through another complex and difficult case. Beautiful little Stacy Chapman has been kidnapped, and now because of a messy custody battle and the mysterious note left by her grandmother, Bethany Chapman, Stacy's mother, is being accused of the crime. Her only defendant is her therapist Burke Anderson. He faces a tough decision: to remain neutral and let the police handle the case or use his sleuthing abilities to clear his patient's name and reunite mother and daughter.

Bethany Chapman is a nurse and a single mother trying to make it on her own after her police officer husband deserts her. To her dismay, he resurfaces, demanding custody of their daughter, Stacy. Driven to consider kidnapping her own daughter, Bethany is horrified when Stacy is kidnapped. When her ex-husband portrays her as unbalanced to his fellow officers, Bethany quickly becomes their chief suspect. Bethany turns to Christian counselor Burke Anderson, who agrees to help. This involving mystery in the Burke Anderson series (e.g., Death Stalks a Holiday, Thomas Nelson, 1996) has an added attraction in the character of Bethany, a single mother pushed too far by an uncaring society.
