Overview
Neo-liberal globalization, with its emphasis on markets, is pushing a form of individualism that is anti-politics, according to this work. This necessitates a rethinking of the concepts of democracy and citizenship. The author examines different discourses and advocates for a notion of citizenship as resistance to oppressions and democracy that entails genuine involvement. Both of these notions require an opposition to neoliberal globalization. Annotation Β©2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, ORBook Details
