School Library Journal

Gr 4-6-While books about endangered species can seem more numerous than the animals themselves, these two new volumes deserve some attention. Both books have arresting photographs, interesting facts, and satisfactory texts. Tigers interweaves information on the different types into all of its chapters. Chapter topics include the habitats, hunting skills, parenting habits, and, most important, what can be done to rescue these animals from their precarious state. Conversely, Eagles has individual chapters on eight specific species, each with its own description of its habitat, food, and more. Fine full-color photographs appear on every page and greatly add to each book's appeal. With the "Wildlife at Risk" series (Bookwright) out of print and the "Friends in Danger" series (Enslow) aimed at a younger audience, this series may fill a need.-Amy Adler, Toledo-Lucas County Public Library, OH
