This time-tested text was prepared to combine with a video series of the same title, and although the authors say it can be used independently, it is obvious from the preface that the book and telecourse are intimately linked. Mansfield (U. of Pennsylvania) and Behravesh, with Standard and Poor's, have included case studies that focus on economic events covered in the videos and the chapters follow the sequence of the television program. Topics covered in this series include markets and prices, fiscal policy and national output; inflation; productivity, growth, and technology policy; market demand and price elasticity; pollution and the environment; poverty, income inequality, and discrimination; and international trade.
