European Dimensions

This book addresses the European Union's desire for a unified approach to education and its impact on a national level. It explores the origins of the EU's present interest in education and also addresses the tensions that underlie its policies. The author takes issue both with the 'Euro-enthusiasts', who he believes have failed to ask serious questions about the purpose and viability of the EU's policies, as well as with the 'Euro-sceptics', who he feels underestimate the twin challenges of globalization and reconstruction that the EU policies attempt to address.
