Children's Literature -
The feeling of anger is described in this book, along with three examples of children being angry. The stories are told in two or three simple sentences per page and through illustrations. Children learn that anger does not last forever. Sometimes when people are angry, they do or say things for which they are later sorry. Resolution may come by saying, "I'm sorry." Katie is angry when her little brother takes her ice cream cone. Tom's cat threw up in his back pack, occasioning his use of his sister's pink one, which brought about teasing at school. Jessie did not get to do what she wanted. Colored cartoon-like pictures show various emotions on the children's faces and in their postures. The glossary defines bad mood in the following way: "if you're in a bad mood, everything makes you feel angry and upset." An index is included. Notes to parents and teachers give page by page ideas for discussion: "Read the first line on page 4:'People have lots of different feelings.' Help your children make a list of different feelings." This book is a wonderful way to open discussion between children and adults on the subject of feelings. Reviewer: Carlee HallmanBook Details
