Library Journal
This book is ``designed to help lawyers and paralegals representing consumers.'' The meticulously organized and well-written chapters are detailed and practical (e.g., ``Preparation of a Debt Collection Harassment Case''). Of most interest to consumers is the information on the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act of 1978, but even this will be overkill for most. Public libraries are better served by the treatment of consumer debt in Everybody's Guide to the Law by Melvin Belli and Allen Wilkinson ( LJ 12/15/86) and Don't Get Taken by Steven Sack ( LJ 9/15/84).
