Overview
"Feathers and fur don't mix!" squawk a pair of ducks when they see Tuesday the Cat licking his chops over a nest of eggs. But when Tuesday sees the eggs in danger from a storm, he takes heroic action, and life-long friendships result in spite of major differences! This heartwarming story was inspired by real events in the author's own neighborhood, and yes, Tuesday the cat and the now-grown ducks are still the best of friends.
A curious cat has been warned to stay away from a nest with duck eggs in it, but when a storm puts the eggs in danger, the cat's actions have surprising consequences.

K-Gr 2-Tuesday the cat cannot wait for a mother duck's 11 eggs to hatch, for older cats have told him that, "-little tasty ducklings make a yummy catch." The mother and father duck keep shooing Tuesday away from their nest, quacking, "Feathers and fur don't mix!" When the protective parents get caught in a fierce thunderstorm, Tuesday saves the floating nest from crashing into a tree, only to watch all of the eggs crack open. "`Oh, my goodness!' thought the cat. `Do I eat them-or greet them?'" Of course, he chooses wisely, and when the stranded pair return, quacking wildly, Tuesday is vindicated by the ducklings, who agree, "Feathers and fur mix fine, especially when you take the time." The illustrations are adequate, although they look more like colored drafts than polished works.
