From The Critics

Reviewer: James S. Feinberg, MD(University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine)
Description: This is a handsome, well-written textbook and atlas of dermatological diseases of the anogenital region.
Purpose: The book provides an illustrated comprehensive textbook that crosses multidisciplinary lines. It addresses a variety of clinical dermatological problems encountered by physicians in many specialties in the course of everyday practice.
Audience: This book will be very helpful to primary care physicians, gynecologists, and urologists who are frequently confronted by a variety of dermatological problems "masquerading" as urologic or gynecologic conditions. It is also quite appropriate for senior medical students and residents.
Features: It is well written and well indexed and contains excellent photographs and a small but helpful glossary. It is written with a clinically oriented regional approach and has a helpful chapter on local anatomy and relevant therapy.
Assessment: This is a much needed textbook. Although more photographs would be helpful for the intended audience, this is nevertheless a worthy addition to the library of any hospital, medical school, student, resident, or practicing physician. Its straightforward, no-nonsense, common sense style makes it easy and enjoyable to read. Its problem-oriented approach makes it suitable as an office reference book.

Booknews

A comprehensive, clinical text that covers the dermatologic aspects of anogenital disease in both men and women. Some 180 clinical color illustrations are combined with a text based both on the authors' extensive clinical experience and a comprehensive review of the relevant English-language literature. The problem-oriented diagnostic format is based on clinical description, allowing for rapid and accurate identification even of unfamiliar diseases. Sufficient dermatologic information is included regarding diagnostic techniques and basic therapy to make the text usable by those who have not been trained in dermatology. Annotation c.
