Gr 9 UpIs the Earth on the verge of environmental destruction and ecological collapse or are such claims greatly exaggerated? Will this planet be able to continue to sustain growing populations? The many nuances of these questions are explored regarding human consumption in relation to agriculture, livestock, and energy. This anthology of previously published essays and articles includes informed opinions from a wide range of sources. For example, Lee Raymond of the Exxon Corporation argues that oil is an efficient energy source while Gary Gardner and Christopher Flavin of the Worldwatch Institute are proponents, respectively, of the increased use of organic gardening and wind power.
