Gr 8 Up-- Gilbert has taken the concept of acronyms as mnemonic devices to new extremes of contrivance, repetition, and outright boredom. In a tedious exercise at overstating the obvious, readers are treated to G. O. Get Organized, S. O. S. Simplicity-Order-Steps, A. C. T. Aim-Countdown-Takeoff, W. H. O. Want to-Have to-Ought to, etc. The book contains some good, practical, albeit rather simplistic advice on time management and setting goals and priorities that may be appropriate for young teens just beginning to cope with the wider variety of options available to them. Unfortunately, Gilbert tends to belabor the obvious and use unrealistic extremes as examples. A marginal purchase. --Trish Ebbatson, Delaware County District Library, OHBook Details
