Synopsis
An introduction to the physical characteristics, habitat, and behavior of grizzly bears.
School Library Journal
Gr 1-3-Two- to four-page chapters discuss one aspect of each animal's life. There aren't many details here, but the basics, such as appearance, habitat, food, etc., are covered. Chimpanzees also includes brief discussion of Jane Goodall's groundbreaking work with these animals. The texts are simple and clear enough for newly independent readers. The few difficult words such as "arboreal" are printed in a different color and defined in the text and/or glossary. Appealing, full-color photographs, as well as a few drawings, appear on almost every page. These titles would be most useful for satisfying the curiosity of children with questions about these creatures. They're not must-haves, but will be helpful where animal books for this audience are in high demand.-Arwen Marshall, Minneapolis Public Library Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.
