Children's Literature - Vicki Foote

In this nonfiction "Buddy Book" series, sentences that are easy for young readers to understand explain the life cycle of a crocodile from its beginning as an egg through its life as an adult. Words highlighted in green print are defined in a brief listing at the end of the text. "Guess What?" pages relate interesting information, such as the fact that crocodiles never stop growing new teeth, and a description is given of the important differences between crocodiles and alligators. A "Can You Guess?" page has two questions and answers. The publisher's website is given as a source to learn more about crocodiles. An index is included. Photographs depict the crocodiles in their growing stages, along with pictures of animals that hunt baby crocodiles. For basic facts about this animal, this text would be a good resource for children in early grades and would be helpful as a reference tool in libraries and schools.
