Bright spiral-bound board books feature photography of babies and toddlers, or objects that youngsters like to poke at or ask questions about. What Color? shows off critters: fluffy yellow chicks, a black Labrador and a white bunny, to name a few. How Many? features one key, two twins, three utensils and goes all the way up to twenty toes. Alphabet is basically a colorful collection of standard ABC images, and Growing shows actions: a small hand grasps a big finger for ``holding,'' four nude babies are plunked down on a mat for ``sitting,'' etc. The first two are better thought out than the last two, but the entire collection has enough pizzazz and punch to make babies sit up and notice. Ages 6 months-1 years. (October)
