Synopsis

Inspired by toys and other objects in his room, a boy imagines all sorts of visitors, from a jet pilot to slimy aliens, as he thinks about who might come and play with him.

School Library Journal

PreS-Gr 2-Ideal for children working on decoding skills, these rhyming stories are pleasing but intentionally light on plot. Daddy depicts a family outing. Guess Who? enumerates some possible visitors on a given day, concluding that "YOU will visit! Come and play!" Falling out of bed and banging her head are just two of a little girl's mishaps in Very Bad Day. However, just as the rain adds to her sadness, she returns home to find her two friends waiting. With the accompanying word lists and word repetition in the texts, these books do a good job of setting up newly independent readers for success. Lively, full-spread cartoon illustrations accompany all three selections.-Gloria Koster, West School, New Canaan, CT Copyright 2004 Reed Business Information.
