Gr 5 Up-Translated from the French, these three titles present a series of crafts for Halloween and Christmas as well as a collection of 14 masks. Beautifully presented in clear, color photography and concise Spanish, all spreads begin with the list of supplies needed to complete each project. Invariably, four steps follow, with detailed instructions and a small inset photograph for each step. Both Navidad and Halloween contain recipes and crafts with appropriate warnings. From making pop-up cards to candelabra, tree toppers, and chocolate covered yule logs, most projects require a trip to the art supply or hardware store. Upper elementary and middle school students might have great fun with the crafts presented in these appealing books, but younger children will become frustrated without a lot of assistance. This is especially true in the case of Mascaras, which contains projects that require a significant degree of small motor skills. Art teachers will find a wealth of ideas here. Both bookstores and libraries will want to carry these titles.
