Overview

Handbook of Human Development provides health care professionals with a current, comprehensive, and practical overview of human development. The goal for each chapter is to offer a review of the literature on that particular subject, and goes on to analyze the current theory and research in a particular field, in light of the practical applications for readers.

Synopsis

Thies (nursing, University of Massachusetts Medical School) and Travers (education, Boston College) provide readings on topics in human development, written by nurses, psychologists, nutritionists, educators, and exercise physiologists. The readings offer health care professionals a practical overview of human development, including the theoretical perspective, and will enhance their expertise in helping patients manage their own health. Some topics covered are the Brazelton newborn assessment scale, gender and sexual identity, anxiety in adolescents, and adult development after midlife divorce.
